Johnny Hollywood was
fascinated that his dad could feed his family of eight children by
making music...literally. His dad owned a company that manufactured
vinyl records.
Johnny was amazed by
that process, but it was a need to purge his emotional reservoir that
spawned his songwriting. Heartbreak and other of life's tragedies may be
his inspiration, but John aims to bring joy to others with his music
"I'd like to share a message in a song with the rest of the world,
something that could make a person feel good after they get off work or
if they are having any kind of troubles. Or if they're having good times
in life, they can relate to my songs and they will make them feel even
better."
The singer from upstate New York has been compared to other well-known
East Coast acts from Bon Jovi to Billy Joel as well as Canadian Bryan
Adams. His music is heavy with emotion, and he's not afraid to call it
melancholy. He says his fans get hooked and want to hear his songs over
and over again.
"I think they just like to hear a person perform something live that
affects their life in some way with the lyrics."
The artist says his songwriting is directly inspired by his life
experiences and comes in waves. "With my songs, the majority of the time
I'll be humming a melody first and then I'll put my feeling and my words
to that melody and it just comes out wonderful."
John started out singing in his brother's band in his early teens. He
soon learned drums and piano, but the guitar became his instrument of
choice. John had his first radio airplay at the ripe age of 16 after a
winning a contest.
Although music is his first love, John has also dabbled in acting. He
appeared in the 1992 movie "White Men Can't Jump" and most recently
played a part in "Bruce Almighty," with Jim Carrey. He is currently
going to be featured on HBO He also directed, produced and edited his
own music video. |
